I completed my first ever half marathon yesterday!!! It started out as a great morning - it was around 55 degrees out and there wasn't too much wind.  Then as the race went on the wind picked up and it started to drizzle, also causing the temperature to drop.  I have been recovering from a minor stress fracture in my hip for the past three weeks so I was very nervous to see how this would all go down yesterday but I didn't feel any pain in my hip.  I felt pain every where else though! :P I finished the half-marathon in 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds!!!!  I had my parents and my boyfriend, Wayne, cheering me on at the finish line!  It felt so good to complete that task and I am extremely proud of myself.  My mom has started to express an interest in maybe running the ING next year - who knows maybe she will do the half and I will do the full! (don't really think I am ready for that)  I did end up walking probably about half of the half-marathon just because I didn't want to push myself to my extreme and cause further injury to my body.  I am glad that I can now say that I am a distance runner and I look forward to running another half in the future! :)

About this blog

Like any girl in her 20's it can be a very challenging time...there are many things that come up in your 20's that you have no control over and at times it is extremely difficult to stay positive. For myself, I have graduated from college, started a job, been laid off from a job, been unemployed for 6+ months, started a new job, had a couple relationships, and let friendships fizzle away as well as have new ones blossom. Throughout all of this my main focus has been to try and stay positive that what happens in my life happens for a reason. I am slowly learning to take the bad with the good and the good with the bad.
